How To Obtain ElectroEtch Components

Running the process requires

A tank:

ElectroEtch Enterprises builds and ships ElectroEtch Tanks on custom order. The tanks are transparent and available in three standard sizes. They are made of Lexan in such a manner that they do not leak. The largest size is shown below:

A plate holder and contacts:

These are custom made by ElectroEtch Enterprises

A rectifierwhich will convert AC current to DC current of up to 3 volts . This is shown to the left of the tank with white and red wires attached to it.

These are available from commercial suppliers. ElectroEtch Enterprises will recommend a size to suit the size of tank to be used

A solution of copper sulfate or zinc sulfate. :

These salts are available in crystal form and adequate purity from regular commercial suppliers. Since they are GRAS (Generally Accepted as Safe) no special permits to purchase or ship are needed. ElectroEtch Enterprises will recommend concentrations and give instruction how to prepare the optimum concentrations.

A source of water, preferably at normal household pressure. While not essential a floor drain and/or a sink large enough to accommodate the largest plate to be etched are desirable.

In addition to these basic components, it is desirable to equip the tank with:

splash guards: These are located at the sides and bottom front of the tank. They are removable.

a pump, a jet and a filter system.

The pump and jet improve the efficiency of the etch. The filter, which is located in the jet/circulation circuit, keeps the solution clean. Retrofitting these components is possible, but will not be done by ElectroEtch Enterprises, but basic instructions will be given. ElectroEtch Enterprises cannot be responsible for malfunction or leakage of retrofitted tanks.

A controller

can be provided by ElectroEtch Enterprises which will give voltage and current read outs, control etch time and provide power for more than one plate at a given time. This are shown above to the left of the tank on top of the rectifier

While it is the basic policy of ElectroEtch Enterprises to supply the equipment so as to ensure quality, other arrangements can be made where shipping is impractical. We anticipate providing a licensed supply source in Europe. We will offer very special and attractive terms to artists who intend to use the processor for their own work and those of immediate colleagues only (i.e. co-op studios).

Since all equipment is custom made, Please send us an E-Mail and we will be happy to send you a quote and estimate of delivery time (generally about 8 weeks).
